      Beijing
      Beijing, which is also abbreviated as "Jing," is the capital of the People's Republic of China. The political and cultural center of the country, it is also one of the international communication hubs of China. Beijing is located at 39056' N and 116020' E, on the northwest edge of the North China Plain, adjoining Tianjin City to its east and Hebei Province to its north, west and south. Beijing has 16 districts and two counties under its jurisdiction, covering an area of 16,807.8 square kilometers, including 87.1 square kilometers of urban area.

      Tianjin
      Tianjin is located in the northeast of the North China Plain, facing the Bohai Sea in the east, and seated against Mt. Yanshan in the north, lying between 38033'-400 15' N, and 116042' 118003'E. It adjoins Beijing in the north and borders on Tangshan, Chengde, Langfang and Cangzhou of Hebei Province in the east, west and south respectively. Its coastal line stretches about 133 km long. It covers an area of 11,305 square kilometers. The name of Tianjin first appeared in the early years of the Yongle reign of the Ming Dynasty, meaning the ferry port used by an emperor. In 1404, it became a military position of strategic importance, and construction of city walls and garrison installations began. The city was eventually called Tianjin Fort.

      Shanghai
      Shanghai is situated at 31'14' north latitude and 121'29' east longitude. Bordering on Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces in the west, Shanghai is washed by the East China Sea in the east and Hangzhou Bay in the south. North of the city, the Yangtze River pours into the East China Sea. At the central point along China's coastal line, Shanghai has ready transportation facilities. Thanks to its advantageous geographic location, Shanghai has both excellent sea and river ports and a vast hinterland.

      Chongqing
      On the upper reaches of the Yangtze River in southwest of China, bordering provinces of Hubei, Hunan, Guizhou, Sichuan and Shaanxi. The total area is 82,400 square km.
